USA Urban Camo 1999

An experimental urban camouflage battle dress uniform was created by the USA during their 1999 military exercises. The pattern which they refer to as T-block or T-pattern consisted of 3 grey tones in geometrical patterns instead of the usual soft curves. The square geometry more reflecting the hard lines and edges found in urban street situations. This disruptive pattern created to make Marine troops harder to hit obviously! Replaced more recently with a new MARPAT camouflage pattern for military uniforms.

MARPAT

The acronym stands for (is short for) Marine Disruptive Pattern and is a pixelated camouflage pattern in use by the United States Marines and the CADPAT is a similar modern disruptive pattern in use by Canada.

These geometrice patterns are not restricted to just the black / white / grey or the blue urban camouflage of city or urban use but also work well and are available in Woodland Camo and Desert Camouflage.

History of Urban Camo

This is the brief history of the urban camouflage pattern (and also information guide on as many camo patterns of the world which we can find) developed for military army use and now still further improved and also adopted for street fashion wear.

European and US Army Camo

During the first world war in europe between 1914 and 1918 the camouflage uniform and need for one was simply not on the agenda. Most fighting was not stealth and infra red technology and long distance sniper fighting has not been developed

Most european armies had a colour or variaion of green, khaki or plain grey material uniforms which had at least replaced 19th century bright red and gregarious colours of old. These "loud" and intimidating uniforms were impressive in the olden days and can still be seen worn ceremonially.
